Bulb: To 2.5cm diameter, with bulblets
Stem: 12 - 30cm high
Leaves: 3 - 8 linear, sometimes slightly glaucous, alternate
Flowers: 1 occasionally 2 or 3, very broad bells, purple
to burgundy-red or pink, tessellated, or white with greenish lines
Segments: 3 - 4.5 x 1 - 1.5cm, inner 1.3 - 1.9cm wide
Nectaries: 7 - 10mm long at angle of bell, green
Style: 1.3 - 1.9cm, trifid, lobes 2 - 6mm
Capsule: Not winged
Flowering time: IV - V
Habitat: Damp meadows, peaty or chalky soil, and in woods;
sun or shade
Distribution: Europe to Russia, Yugoslavia, Southern Alps
Cultivation: Easy in the garden almost everywhere
