Leaves: 5 - 6, alternate, glaucous, lanceolate

Flowers: Broadly campanulate, red-purplish, glaucous outside, inner paler with brownish tessellation

Segments: 3.2 - 4.8cm

Nectaries: Triangular, at the angle of the bell

Style: Trifid, 1.2 - 1.3cm, branches 1mm

Capsule: Not winged

Flowering time: V - VI

Habitat: Dry alpine meadows on limestone, 1500 - 2000m

Distribution: SE France, Northern Italy

Cultivation: Easy in a bulb frame and raised border, peaty soil
